Feb 10, 2022 at 13:28 | comment | added | Dima Pasechnik | @Amplitwist I'm happy to edit further. We already have a question on "good books". I don't think it's so far from the "actual context" in this case, as it will be a place to actually improve said books.

Also, from the Help Center article What are tags, and how should I use them?: "Do not use meta-tags in questions. [...] If the tag commonly means different things to different people, it’s probably a meta-tag. For example, the meaning of the tag [subjective] is, itself, subjective; the same is true for tags like [best-practices] and [beginner] . Best practices to whom? Beginner by what criteria? Use only tags that have a broadly accepted, objective definition."

Feb 10, 2022 at 11:48 | comment | added | user158 | From the Help Center article How to Ask Questions in Private Beta: "It’s tempting to start with easy, superficial questions: surveys, polls, and rudimentary questions like “what are some good books on this topic” or “what are the best blogs on this topic”. Those are not good questions for the private beta – they don’t reflect the actual content that we want this site to contain, and are not representative of it."
Feb 10, 2022 at 11:41 | comment | added | user158 | @DimaPasechnik I feel this question should remain closed as long as it asks for the "easiest" or "best" option. I would be happy with a community wiki question posed along the lines suggested by Tyberius or by Wojowu.

Feb 9, 2022 at 22:33 | comment | added | user158 | I don't think it's a good idea to have a meta-tag like beginner...

Feb 9, 2022 at 20:17 | comment | added | Max Heiber | I suggest editing the question: What is the easiest proof assistant to start with for a programmer or data scientiest. The answer is probably different depending on field. For example, Lean is targeted at classical mathemeticians and Agda seems to attrack type theorists.

Feb 9, 2022 at 0:01 | comment | added | Wojowu | I think another good variant of the question would be asking for a list of learning resources on learning various languages.
Feb 8, 2022 at 22:44 | comment | added | Kevin Buzzard | This probably depends to a certain extent on your background as well; a great tutorial on inductive types might not help you at all if what you want to do is prove theorems about topological spaces, and a great tutorial on topological spaces might not help you at all if you want to use a theorem prover to verify that some simple programs have no bugs.

Feb 8, 2022 at 18:59 | comment | added | Tyberius | It might be better to phrase this as looking for a list of proof assistants with pros and cons for a beginner.
Feb 8, 2022 at 18:55 | comment | added | Mike Shulman | This is very opinion-based; you'll find partisans of all three of the ones you mentioned, plus others like Lean. I don't think there can be one correct answer.
